This was all pointless stupid rubbish waffle as well. Flowery meaningless dribble, dribbling out of his mouth like water from a hosepipe you can never quite turn off, however hard you twist the tap. A waste.
My knowledge of the The Troubles, as they’re referred to, isn’t what you’d call expansive. But I can’t help but feel that Edwards is just slapping platitudes at them willy-nilly, mainly to make himself sound impressive and righteous and all those things evangelicals in particular like to listen to in the sound of their own voices.
It repulses me so to hear him blabbering on about how Christianity fosters some sort of definitively lasting peace when it’s Christianity that has been at the heart of centuries of hatred and bloodshed.
And now we hear that a policeman has been shot dead, with republican dissidents strongly suspected to be responsible.
Some days I just try my best not to think about what the Thought for the Day reader has said. Not when there’s a real world out there.
