Thursday 26th February 2009: Rev Dr David Wilkinson

Listen / Read
Young people are good. It’s a shame when they die. But most of them don’t, and the good ones help people because that’s what people who believe in Jesus, and only people who believe in Jesus, do best. Amen.

This was a bit wishy washy. The beautiful gift of young people. Hmm. I suspect he’s trying to counter the perception of young people as ‘hoodies’, the likes of which David Cameron would have us hug. A positive view on young people set against news of the increase in truancy and teenage pregnancy, perhaps.

Yes, there may be children raising children and children stabbing children and all of that malarkey, but we must remember that some children are Christians, so it’s not all bad news for the kids. And the good news doesn’t end there. Apparently, student converserions are on the rise!

How exciting is that? It means there’s another generation of sanctimoniously deluded numpties to look forward to. It also means the British education system is a bit fucked.
